Disc herniation symptoms | treatment | surgery | recovery
Disc herniation often occurs between thirty and fifty years. The reason for this is that the natural aging process of the spinal disks begins in childhood and early youth, so it is not surprising that the disease occurs even in person of twenty years. On the other hand, after fifty discs lose a substantial amount of water, so they are less likely to “leak”.Herniation SYMPTOMS
Symptoms of herniation differ when it comes to the lumbar or cervical spine.
Lumbar disc herniation SYMPTOMS
- Pain in the lower back
- Numbness or pain that runs down the leg
- Pain in the gluteal region
- Numbness or pain in the calves
- Pain in the knee or around
- Body posture is distorted
- Numbness in the feet – annealing
- Failure to control urination
- Poor control of foot
- Pain at startup hull (body stretching, leaning, bending, rotation)
- Sexual dysfunction
- Annealing leg or feeling of coldness in the legs
Cervical spine herniation SYMPTOMS
- Numbness of the hands and fingers
- Pain in the hands
- Pain in the shoulder (one or both)
- Weakness of the muscles on the hands
- Painful and limited movement in the neck
- Neck stiffness
- Headaches and migraines
- Problems with eyes and eyesight
- Pain between the shoulder blades
- Fatigue, nausea and dizziness
WHAT IS herniation and what are the causes of disease?
Intervertebral disc consists of a fibrous ring that surrounds the gelatinous core, which contains a lot of water. Aging eventually lead to weakening of the ring, small cracks and breakage when the gelatin content leaks – disc herniation and pressed the nerve, which leads to a well-known condition called sciatica. In addition to hereditary factors, which we can not influence, a herniated disc can be caused by the excessive workload and insufficient relief of the spine. Nutrition of the discs works on the principle of sponges (since they have no blood vessels) – upright increases pressure in them, crowding out harmful substances, while resting or sitting with a backrest angle of 45 degrees, the pressure decreases and nutrients entering the discs. Modern lifestyle brings with it too much load (mainly sitting and standing), insufficient relaxing, leading to malnutrition and rapid deterioration of the discs. Other reasons are poor posture, obesity, smoking and lack of physical activity, due to which the muscles become weak, and they, in addition to disk drives, provide support for the spine.
A herniated disc is usually treated conservatively – analgesics (medications to reduce pain and inflammation), resting, cooling in the loin (not heated, as there may be even more nerve inflammation and stronger pain), physical agents (laser, magnet, electric … ).
Herniation recovery after surgery
In the case of amplification problems, disc herniation must be treated surgery. In addition, there are reasons for urgent surgical treatment – condition called equine Kauda (other than pain, there is a pronounced weakness in the legs, numbness of the seat of the region and the inability to urinate and performing bowel movements or inability of their detention), as well as isolated muscle weakness (most often inability to walk on his toes or heels one leg). After surgical treatment there is a chance that the remaining part of the disc again flowing out and the greater is the risk of rapid deterioration and discs on adjacent levels. Therefore, in this case we can say prevention is better than cure. However, in most cases, these complications are successfully avoid with regular exercising.
Herniation NATURAL TREATMENT
Since this is a very serious health problem that sometimes spine surgery is needed, phytotherapy can only help the sick and can not fully heal it.
Cut into slices a potato and put on the painful spots. Bandage it. Also you can fry in oil-ten cloves of garlic (which previously squashed) as the hot mixture put onto painful areas and hold the next 3 h.
