Why is barley perfectly effective against wrinkles?
Barley is rich in unsaturated fatty acids. It contains vitamins A, D, E, and higher amounts of vitamin B12 (which is otherwise rare in plants). It is rich in minerals such as potassium, magnesium, zinc, iron, phosphorus, cobalt, fluorine and iodine. Barley is rich and pantothenic acid (vitamin B5), which plays a key role in the creation of red blood cells and hormones.
Barley contains lignans, which emit estrogen and thus affect healthier looking skin. Lignans are phytoestrogens, which stimulate the production of collagen. You get them while drinking the strained liquid. The higher presence of lignans in the bloodstream is associated with more youthful appearance and a reduced risk of breast cancer.
The barley also contains azelaic acid, which is very interesting due to the effect of the cosmetic industry in the bleaching and reduction of hyperpigmentation of skin in the external application. Azelaic acid inhibits the tyrosinase, the enzyme which causes the production of melanin and thus the occurrence of stains.
The infusion of barley is rich in antioxidants. In a study was revealed that these antioxidants are effective in preventing peroxynitrite radicals, which attack the skin tissue and causes DNA damage – a major cause of wrinkles.
Barley is rich with selenium and zinc, minerals that are found in our body in very small quantities, but they, like many other trace elements, are essential for the normal functioning of the body. They are especially critical to cellular distribution, enzymatic activity of the liver and other organs, to strengthen immunity and to remove toxins from the body.
Mineral selenium helps maintain the elasticity of the skin because it protects of free radicals. Barley improves skin tone and reduces the tension that makes the skin supple and youthful. Its antioxidants delay the signs of aging. While a high proportion of zinc speeds up the healing process of the skin and tissues.
Barley has a detoxifying effect on the entire body, which is also essential for achieving more beautiful complexion.
