Frankincense Water Helps Heal The Gut, Immunity, Brain, Joints And More
There are many things that I have put in my water like lemons, limes, cucumbers, raspberries, and apple cider vinegar. But I had never heard of frankincense water until a couple of days ago, and after doing research on it I am so excited to share what I found! There are many benefits and so many cool facts so I promise you’ll want to keep on reading!
Frankincense is derived from the gummy sap that oozes out of the Boswellia Sacra trees when their bark is cut. The leaking resin hardens and is scrapped off the trunk in tear shape droplets; it may then be used in its dried form or steamed to yield essential oils. Frankincense has been a staple of traditional Chinese medicine since at least 500 B.C. (Cohen)
“Frankincense has been investigated as a possible treatment for some cancers, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, anxiety and asthma, among other conditions. If these ancient remedies can indeed provide relief for the many patients who suffer from these potentially devastating illnesses, the great incense roads of antiquity may flourish once again.”
It’s safe to say that frankincense has many healing properties that our bodies need. Keeping frankincense on had is a definite must! Almost all frankincense comes from western Oman. There, it is used for everything from deodorant and toothpaste to food and drink flavoring. Other cultures around the world have seen the benefit of frankincense firsthand, and now it is time that we get on board too!
An easy way to start is with frankincense resin water. But first, let me break down the difference between Frankincense resin, frankincense essential oil, and fragrance oil.
Upon doing my own research, I was starting to get confused as to which one to use and what exactly the difference was. So, here is a little information that will hopefully help you out. Frankincense resin is the actual sap that comes from the Boswellia Sacra tree after it is cut and then dried. Frankincense essential oil is made by steam-distilling the raw resin, while fragrance oils are usually artificially created with synthetic chemicals. “Although they smell good and are typically less expensive, fragrance oils do not give you the therapeutic benefits of organic essential oils.”
So let’s first get started with the frankincense resin water. The benefits of this water are:
- Prevents digestive problems
- Strengthens immune system
- Works as a Natural Diuretic
- Strengthens, tones, and lifts the skin, muscles, and internal organs
- Promotes skin and tissue regeneration
- Improves joint health
- Helps get rid of toxins
- Helps with stress relief and inflammation
- Anti-carcinogenic (prevents cancer, may help heal cancer)
- Eases Fever and Headaches
- Penetrates the blood-brain barrier
- Helps with bronchitis
- Helps relieve sore throats
How To Make Frankincense Resin Water:
- 1 bag of Frankincense Resin
- 1 quart glass jar
- Approx. 1 quart of purified water
Take the bag of frankincense resin and put it at the bottom of the glass quart jar. Bring the water to a boil and then pour the water over the resin in the glass jar until it is full. Cover the top with a loosely attached lid, a plate, or paper towel. Allow the mixture to sit overnight.
The next day, sip the water throughout the day. Don’t drink the whole thing; drink only a few ounces per day. Space it out a little and allow your body to take time to heal, boost its immune system, and start taking care of any problems that you may have. Whether you’re doing it to help a health problem or for better overall health, stick to drinking only a few ounces a day.
Frankincense Essential Oil:
This has plenty of benefits as well. Essential oils can be diffused in the room, you can use them topically, ingest in small amounts, or you can simply inhale the smell. Just like the frankincense resin water, frankincense essential oils have many benefits as well.
“The astringent property of frankincense oil can help strengthen gums, stop the bleeding from wounds and cuts, help with skin health, reverse signs of aging, and reduce the appearance of stretch marks and scars. Frankincense oil can break up phlegm deposits in your respiratory tract and lungs, and can relieve bronchitis-related congestion. It can suppress the production of key inflammatory cells, helping to prevent the breakdown of cartilage tissue in patients with arthritis.”
To be honest, I have a collection of essential oils, but I have yet to buy frankincense oil because it tends to be on the pricier side. But after reading all of the research and writing this article, I am definitely putting it at the top of my list titled “next essential oils to buy.”
It’s mind boggling to me that frankincense oil and frankincense resin water have so many benefits. I’m sitting here wondering why we don’t hear about it more, and why we aren’t highly encouraged to use it! So I will start. Truly consider buying frankincense resin and/or frankincense essential oil, especially if you’re having any of health problems. Turn it around and simply start by drinking frankincense resin water or using the essential oil. There are many things you can do for your health. The people of other cultures caught on about all things frankincense long ago, therefore we need catch on now! Make it a staple in your home, share the word and encourage others to use frankincense as well!
