PROVEN: Cats heal people, here’s how!
Good news for all lovers of cats – your pet heals you, but literally!
Since they were allegations in our media that cats cause mental illness, we resolve to defend our little furry friends, which bring a lot of joy to many of us, no doubt.Research conducted at the University of Minnesota found that people who have cats also have a lower risk of heart attack. After 10 years of research has shown that cat owners had a 30 percent lower risk of stroke compared with people who do not have these animals.
Reducing the risk of heart attack by 30 percent is not a joke and indeed we have to thank our pets. The cat owners have lower blood pressure, lower stress levels and lower heart rate than those who do not have cats.
In addition to reducing the risk of heart attack, cats stimulate the secretion of oxytocin in the brain. This hormone is important for the organism because it causes pleasure and is also called the hormone of love and happiness. Its secretion has a healing effect on the human body.
Cats also promote the secretion of serotonin and dopamine, which reduces stress and stabilize the operation of our immune system.
Various studies have revealed that cats have a positive impact on the whole range of mental and physical disorders in humans. For example, many owners of cats rarely suffer from depression, have lower cholesterol levels in the blood, and rarely go to the doctor.
Cats, when they spin, cause real vibration whose frequency is between 20 and 140 Hz. It is proved that such vibrations have a therapeutic effect on people, and it is interesting that these strengthen and bone structure.
Another study, which was recently conducted by Dr. Karen Allen of the State University of New York showed that cats are more effective in reducing hypertension caused by stress of the drugs that are prescribed for this purpose.
The study was performed on a group of brokers, whose job involves daily exposure to stress, and all were suffering from hypertension. The group was divided into two parts, the first part have adopted a cat or a dog, while others were left without a pet. All of them were using lisinopril, which is used to prevent stress-induced hypertension.
After six months the results were astounding. Brokers from the first group had half the increase in pressure when they were exposed to stress than those in the second group, so the conclusion of the study was that cats are more effective than an inhibitors that modern medicine prescribe for this condition.
Neither the psychological effect of cats to people is negligible. Studies have shown that cats have a positive impact on the psyche of man by reducing aggression, increase empathy, the ability to enhance learning.
