What caused their hidden power?
In a few words – they stop the blood supply to the tumor cells, or have anti-angiogenesis properties. Angiogenesis is a normal process of creation of blood vessels in the body. In some periods of your life it is enhanced – for example in newborns, while in adults this function is “unlocked” rarely – such as in wounds when tissues and capillaries need to be restored. Angiogenesis is regulated by activators and inhibitor molecules. Typically, the inhibitors predominate, but it becomes necessary activators of angiogenesis and stimulate increased vascular cell growth for the formation of new blood vessels.

This is due to the fact that tomatoes are high in lycopene, which is anti-angiogenic. Lycopene is a substance which is dissolved in the fat, and as such requires their proper absorption through the digestive tract.
In contrast to vitamin C content of lycopene in the tomato products increases when these foods are processed under high temperature or cooked with oil.
